Annamarie Fegan HDip, RM,MA.
I live in Crosshaven, in Cork.
I am married to Denis and the mother of two amazing daughters, Molly and Mia.
I ran a very successful catering and event management business for 25 years before taking up her current career as a co-creational relationship mentor.
Over the last 6 years, I have completed the interpersonal communications course and a higher diploma in relationship mentoring under Tony Humphreys at UCC. In 2022, I completed my MA in the psychotherapy of relationship mentoring at TUS.
I am passionate about co-creational relationship mentoring, which is both educational and therapeutic. It is the provision of an unconditionally loving, non-judgmental, and compassionate relationship that offers opportunities for an individual to reflect on their experience and challenges in life and supports them to move to a place of greater emotional well-being.
When individuals are dissatisfied or at odds with themselves, they look for happiness in all sorts of places. From mountaintop meditation to marathon running, from shopping to overworking and being a human doer, from drinking and eating excessively to cutting themselves and taking pills. The co-creational relationship mentoring approach understands that these are all protective behaviours rather than addictions or problems, and they understand the creativity and genius of these protective behaviours. Humans have an innate reaction to avoid pain, both emotional and physical, and it is difficult for them to take the gaze away from the other and face their own pain. The co-creational relationship mentor refers to this as the hero’s journey. It is through this pain, staying with this pain, and understanding what lies at its source that gives the individual an understanding of their own behaviour. It is only through understanding ourselves and our own behaviour that individuals come to understand the behaviour of others and our relationships. The co-creational relationship mentoring approach provides the safety to allow individuals to face into their own story at their own pace. It all starts with yourself, you don’t have to go anywhere or do anything, just stay with yourself and look inwards.
